General information

The purpose of the system of demerit points is to distinguish between abusive and regular road traffic offenders and those who comply with traffic rules. The essence of the system of demerit points - for violations of traffic rules of various nature and severity, in addition to the fine, demerit points from "0" to "8" are awarded. Demerit points are awarded for infringements that pose a threat to road safety.

Every driver can find out the number of his/her demerit points. At the same time, to be able to follow the situation more quickly, we invite every driver (car owner) to register in the e-CSDD. There you can find out the number of demerit points and other useful information, such as all information about your vehicles (road worthiness test period, validity of insurance policy, etc.), medical examinations, driving licence validity period, information about violations and penalties applied, etc.

The driver has two options for obtaining information on demerit points (8, 10, 12 or 16), the obligation to attend training courses or driving behavior correction groups and to take tests to remove 2 points, as well as the prohibition on the right to drive a vehicle:

  • by registered letter to the declared place of residence;
  • to the e-mail address registered in the e-services, if the driver has registered as a user of the e-CSDD and has agreed to receive the relevant information electronically (in this case the information is not sent in "paper format").

Demerit points shall be registered regardless of the applied fine, in accordance with the provisions of Annex 1 to Cabinet Regulation No. 551 "Regulations for Application of the Violation demerit Point System ". Demerit points are registered with the CSDD and are not reflected in police protocols. The official shall not take a separate decision regarding the registration of demerit points, they shall be registered automatically on the day when the term for appealing the decision has expired.
