Proof of certification

Proofs of certification of a car, moped, motorcycle, tricycle and quadricycle are the following:

  • certificate of compliance of the vehicle (Certificate of Conformity or CoC) issued by the manufacturer stating that this vehicle conforms to the type in respect of which EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval has been granted;
  • vehicle individual approval certificate issued electronically by CSDD;
  • for a used vehicle, in addition to the above stated, also any of the following proofs:
  • EU vehicle type-approval number on the statutory plate of the vehicle;
  • foreign registration document in case this vehicle has been previously registered in any of these countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway or Switzerland;
  • foreign registration document in case this vehicle has been previously registered in any of these countries, and the vehicle has EC type or individual approval, national type or individual approval: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary or Croatia.

Proofs of certification of a lorry, trailer and semi-trailer are the following:

  • certificate of compliance of the vehicle (Certificate of Conformity or CoC) issued by the manufacturer stating that this vehicle conforms to the type in respect of which EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval has been granted;
  • certificate of compliance issued by the manufacturer or its representative in Latvia stating that the given vehicle conforms to the type of vehicles in respect of which vehicle national type approval has been granted in Latvia;
  • vehicle individual approval certificate issued electronically by CSDD;
  • for a used vehicle, in addition to the above stated, also foreign registration document in case this vehicle has been previously registered in any of these countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway or Switzerland;
  • foreign registration document in case this vehicle has been previously registered in any of these countries, and the vehicle has EC type or individual approval, national type or individual approval: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary or Croatia.

Proofs of certification of a bus/coach are the following:

  • certificate of compliance of the vehicle (Certificate of Conformity or CoC) issued by the manufacturer stating that this vehicle conforms to the type in respect of which EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval has been granted;
  • certificate of compliance issued by the manufacturer or its representative in Latvia stating that the given vehicle conforms to the type of vehicles in respect of which vehicle national type approval has been granted in Latvia;
  • vehicle individual approval certificate issued electronically by CSDD.
