Transit number plates

Necessary documents

• Certificate of vehicle data verification. When extending the transit number plates, the vehicle need not be presented for vehicle data verification;
• vehicle registration certificate; If the vehicle is not registered in Latvia, a copy of the document certifying the technical registration data of the vehicle (for a vehicle previously registered abroad - a foreign registration certificate, for a previously unregistered vehicle - a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer or its authorized representative);
• a document certifying the change of ownership rights (for example, a purchase agreement drawn up at a notary or abroad, etc.), if the previous owner is indicated in the vehicle registration certificate or a document certifying the technical data of the vehicle registration. The document does not need to be submitted, data on the change of ownership are available in the register (for example, if the vehicle was purchased at a trade company).
• the passport or ID card of the person submitting the document (a driver's license issued by the CSDD may be presented if the Population Register contains information of a valid passport or ID card).

If transit number plates are received for a vehicle registered in Latvia, which has not been removed from the register for export from Latvia, the operation may be performed by the vehicle owner or his authorized person (more: "Persons who may register a vehicle"). In other cases, the activity can be performed by any adult.
