Vessels and their engines registered by CSDD

  • Jet skis (motorized vessel intended to be driven by the driver or driver and one or more passengers while sitting or standing on it);
  • motor boats (an open - air vessel for water sports and entertainment without a deck and separate, water - protected spaces for people. It is designed to run mainly on an internal combustion engine or an electric motor with a power of more than 3.7 kW. Length of the vessel is more than 2.5 meters);
  • cutters (watercraft and recreational craft with a deck and separate, water - protected spaces for people. It is designed to be driven mainly by an internal combustion engine or an electric motor and is more than 2.5 meters long);
  • rowing boats (an open-type vessel intended to be driven by oar (s) or an engine of a power not exceeding 3.7 kW). Rowing boats shall be registered on a voluntary basis, unless the municipality or another owner of inland waters intends to register rowing boats in the inland waters belonging to it;
  • specialized vessel (intended for the performance of certain work on water and which by its construction does not conform to the description of a boat, cutter or jet ski and is intended for driving, mainly using an internal combustion engine or an electric motor);
  • outboard engines.

The on-board engine of a vessel is only registered with the vessel by making an appropriate entry in the registration certificate.

When registering a vessel, a state registration number is assigned to it and the type of the number plate conforming to the state standard LVS 413: 2002 "State registration number plates for small vessel " is determined. After registration, the owner of the vessel can choose to receive stickers or stencils of the state registration number assigned to the vessel or to arrange for the number to be placed on the vessel himself.

The traffic procedure in the inland waters of Latvia of vessels registered in the CSDD, as well as rowing boats that are not registered in the CSDD, is regulated by the Cabinet of Ministers of 09.02.2016. Regulation No. 92 “ Regulations regarding Vessel Traffic in Inland Waters ”, but the necessary equipment, Annex 1 to these Regulations.
