Number plate types
Depending on the construction and type of vehicles, the following types of number plates are defined in Latvia, according to which number plates are manufactured:
- Type A (520 x 110 mm) - intended for installation at the front as well as at the rear of vehicles, if there is a suitable mounting on the vehicle (not installed on motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles and mopeds, unless the vehicle manufacturer's design provides space for this type of number plate);
- Type B (280 x 200 mm) - intended for installation at the rear of vehicles for which it is not structurally possible to affix a type A number plate (not installed on motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles and mopeds);
- Type C (240 x 130 mm) - intended for installation on the rear of motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles, as well as on the front or rear of vehicles for which it is not structurally possible to affix a type A or B number plate;
- Type E (300 x 110 mm) - intended for installation on vehicles to which special registration plates are issued
- Type F (177 x 130 mm) - intended for installation on the rear of motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles for which it is not structurally possible to affix a type C number plate;
