Tips for choosing a driving school

To make the right choice, we recommend:

  • interview friends, relatives, acquaintances who have recently studied in a driving school, and evaluate feedback;
  • to look at the websites of various driving schools, as well as the pass rates of the trainees in the tests at the CSDD ;
  • to get acquainted with driving school training rooms, teachers and instructors;
  • use or request the opportunity to participate in pilot theoretical training sessions and study visits.

Things to consider when choosing a driving school

The driving school must conclude a training contract with the learner. Be sure to read this agreement (take it home and compare it with the agreements offered by other driving schools), pay special attention to the following sections:

  • driving school responsibilities and rights;
  • the obligations and rights of the client;
  • certain payments;
  • the procedures by which driving school tests are taken (requirements, conditions, term of validity of the test);
  • procedures for resolving disputes and disagreements.

Proof of payment must be requested for all services received from the driving school during the training. This will help to better represent your interests in possible dispute resolution cases.

Should any disagreements arise during the learning process, they will first be resolved based on a pre-existing agreement. (For the compliance of the offered agreement with the regulatory enactments of Latvia, please consult the Consumer Rights Protection Center, K.Valdemāra Street 157, Riga phone: + 371 67212688).

When a person has fully completed training at a driving school, he or she must pass the CSDD tests within 3 years and obtain a driving licence.
