General information
A vehicle shall be written off if it is worn out and is not intended to be used in the future.
Important! It is forbidden to participate in road traffic with a written-off vehicle and it is forbidden to register it as a vehicle in the future, except for the case when it is written off based on the information of the vehicle registry about the vehicle being in search.
The way a vehicle is written off depends on the type of vehicle.
Passenger vehicle and cargo vehicle with a total mass of up to 3500 kg
Handover to a processing company
The owner transfers the vehicle to a processing company which then does the writing-off.

Writing-off at a CSDD customer service centre
If any of the stipulated pre-requisites is met:
- The vehicle has been wanted (in search) for more than a year and there is information about it in the CSDD registry, or a document issued by the State Police confirming this fact is submitted;
- The person shall submit a document certifying that the vehicle has perished (for example, a liquidation certificate issued by a foreign processing/disposal company or a statement from the competent authority (police, fire department) is received on the complete destruction of the vehicle or transfer of its remains for recycling);
- The vehicle has been destroyed (it is not possible to transfer it to a processing/disposal company) and it has not been registered or inspected (MOT-tested) after 04.2004.
- The vehicle has been destroyed (it is not possible to transfer it to a processing company) and a natural resource tax of EUR 165.00 is paid for this vehicle.

A vehicle can also be written off if the vehicle's registration certificate and state registration number plates have been lost or destroyed.
A person can write off a vehicle that does not have a registered write-off ban (prohibition on de-commissioning).
After the vehicle has been written off, the person can receive a confirmation of the vehicle being written off in e-CSDD or at any CSDD customer service centre.
After the registration of the vehicle, its last registered owner or the holder of the number assigned to the vehicle may, within one year from the date of registration of the vehicle, reserve it for the registration of another vehicle, if the license plates are handed over to the CSDD Customer Service Centre before or after the registration of the vehicle.

A person can write off a vehicle that does not have a registered write-off ban.
