Vehicles not registered at CSDD

CSDD does not register:

  • tractors and their trailers. The State Technical Supervision Agency register these vehicles;
  • trams, trolleybuses and specialized tourist vehicles. The local authorities register these vehicles.

Not registered in Latvia:

  • technological units - trailers temporarily used on roads in the territory of Latvia;
  • vehicles, which, by design, are intended for the left side traffic. This requirement does not apply to:
    • vehicles additionally equipped and adapted for use in the right side traffic (for detailed requirements see: Adaptation of cars for right side traffic);
    • postal, road maintenance and other specialized vehicles having right-hand drive, but which by design are intended for the right side traffic;
  • vehicles assembled from separate parts and not having respective certificate issued by the manufacturer;
  • vehicles manufacturer of which the international manufacturer’s identification code has not been assigned. In Latvia the international manufacturer’s identification code is assigned in accordance with National standard LVS 88: 1997 "Vehicle Marking". This requirement does not apply to previously registered vehicles;
  • vehicles, having colour combinations and layouts specified in the national standard or having special light and sound devices installed, if these vehicles do not have the status of an operational vehicle.
