Number plate change for one vehicle
A change of vehicle number is a change of the number assigned to a vehicle in Latvia to another number with a different combination of symbols.
Before registering a number change, it is also possible to choose the state registration number to be registered for the vehicle (more "Option to choose the state registration number"), or to register a previously changed and reserved number for a person (more "Option to hold a national registration number for another vehicle").
Documents required for number change:
- vehicle registration certificate;
- previously issued number plates;
- passport or ID card of the person submitting the documents. A driver's license issued by the CSDD may be presented if the Population Register contains information of a valid passport or ID card.
In addition, if the vehicle is removed from the register, the vehicle is needed to be presented for vehicle data verification (see the section "Vehicle data verification" for details).
Registration may be done:
- by the owner (possessor) or holder of the vehicle or a person authorized by them (more: "Persons who may register a vehicle"), in all cases;
- any adult, if the vehicle is registered.
