Necessary documents
- Certificate of vessels data verification. If the applicant is satisfied that the vessel data are correct, the data verification may be waived. The data verification is mandatory if:
- register a change in the identification number or type of the vessel;
- a jet ski, cutter or motorboat registered in Latvia by 1 February 2004;
- register the change of the type of vessel;
- vessel registration certificate;
- an identity document (personal passport, identity card, driving license issued by the CSDD or driving permit) for a person who performs the activity. Registration may be performed by the owner (possessor), holder or a person authorized by them (more: Persons who may register a vessel);
- if the type of vessel is changed to a motorboat or cutter and the length of the vessel exceeds 5 meters, an additional document certifying the technical data of the vessel issued by the Latvian Maritime Administration must be submitted
If the engine of the vessel has been replaced, the following must be submitted in addition:
- a statement on the data verification of engine numbers. A certificate of data verification need not be submitted if:
- the engine, which has an identification number, has previously been registered in Latvia;
- submit for registration the technical data of the registration of the outboard engine of the vessel issued by the official representative in Latvia and a document certifying the right of ownership - a deed of acceptance and transfer;
- one of the following documents:
- For an engine previously registered in Latvia - a certificate issued by the Road Traffic Safety Directorate regarding the ownership of the vessel's engine (more: Registration of the outboard engine of the vessel in Latvia);
- For an engine not previously registered in Latvia:
- registration document issued by a foreign state;
- the technical data and the document certifying the ownership rights of the outboard engine issued by the official representative in Latvia - the deed of acceptance and transfer;
- the technical records of the engine and the document certifying ownership issued by the engine manufacturer or his authorized representative;
- a document certifying the right of ownership issued by a foreign country, in which the technical data of the engine registration are indicated, if a used engine has been purchased.
If the engine is registered to a person who is not mentioned in the above-mentioned documents - a document certifying the right of ownership issued abroad or in the customs zone or a contract certified by a sworn notary or another person specified in Section 1474 of the Civil Law. The document does not have to be submitted if the certificate of ownership of the vessel's engine issued by the Road Traffic Safety Directorate has been issued by 31.03.2008, and the expropriation of the engine has indicated in the statement as the acquirer of the engine as a person who wishes to register this engine.
The outboard engine of a vessel is registered in Latvia if it has undergone a conformity assessment procedure and the engine is marked with the CE mark in accordance with regulatory enactments on the construction, conformity assessment and placing on the market of recreational vessel * (more: CE marking of the vessel). This requirement does not apply to:
- Vessel engines previously registered in a Member State of the European Union;
- Vessel engines built before 2005.
