General information

In order to participate in waterborne traffic, the vessel's engine must be specified in the vessel's registration certificate. The engine may not be listed on the vessel's registration certificate in the following cases:

  • if the engine power is less than 3.7 kW;
  • if a certificate of ownership of the vessel's engine issued by the CSDD is present (the certificate may also be issued to another person). The certificate of ownership of the engine of the vessel is issued only for the outboard engine;
  • if accompanied by a registration certificate of another vessel in which the engine to be used is registered.

The registration of a vessel's outboard engine can be performed in any of the CSDD customer service centers, regardless of the place of residence of the vessel owner or the place of previous registration of the vessel.

If the vessel outboard motor was purchased from the manufacturer or its official representative in Latvia and an acceptance report has been completed electronically in the CSDD register, the acquirer of the motor can complete the application for the registration of the motor and receipt of the vessel motor ownership statement by mail or at any CSDD customer service centre electronically in e-CSDD (detailed information: Registration in e-CSDD).

The certificate of ownership of the engine of the vessel is issued only for the outboard engine; An on-board engine shall only be registered if it is registered for the vessel.

Important!
The outboard engine of a vessel is registered in Latvia if it has undergone a conformity assessment procedure and the engine is marked with the CE mark in accordance with the regulatory enactments on the construction, conformity assessment and placing on the market of recreational vessel.

This requirement does not apply to:

  • vessel engines previously registered in a Member State of the European Union;
  • Vessel engines built before 2005.
