Necessary documents
Documents relating to the person placing the vehicle for sale:
The vehicle or numbered unit may be placed on the market by its owner or his representative on presentation of an identity document - personal passport, identity card, driver license issued by the CSDD or in the case of a driving license and authorization - see section " Persons who may place a vehicle on the market ") .
Documents related to the vehicle to be sold:
For a vehicle registered in Latvia:
- certificate of registration. If the vehicle has been removed from the register by 01.01.2016, the registration certificate must be returned and a CSDD mark made on it regarding the removal of the vehicle from the register for alienation in the Republic of Latvia or export from the Republic of Latvia. If the removal from the register was performed after 01.01.2016, the registration certificate may not be returned and it may not contain a note on removal from the register.
For a vehicle registered abroad:
- foreign registration document ;
- a document that the import of the vehicle into the customs territory of the European Economic Area has been executed in accordance with the procedures specified in regulatory enactments regarding customs matters (Customs document), if the vehicle has been purchased or imported from a foreign country which is not a Member State of the European Union;
- Certificate regarding the vehicle unit number verification.
- a document certifying the right of ownership, by which the trading company itself has purchased the vehicle abroad;
- a statement of conformity, if required for the registration of the vehicle (see the section " First registration of a vehicle in Latvia ").
For a new vehicle not registered abroad:
- a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer or its official representative, which certifies the origin of the vehicle and the technical data of the records;
- a document certifying the right of ownership by which the merchant has purchased the vehicle abroad (or has purchased it from the manufacturer or its official representative);
- Certificate regarding the vehicle unit number verification.
- a document that the import of the vehicle into the customs territory of the European Economic Area has been executed in accordance with the procedures specified in regulatory enactments regarding customs matters (Customs document), if the vehicle has been purchased or imported from a foreign country which is not a Member State of the European Union;
- a statement of conformity, if required for the registration of the vehicle (see the section " First registration of a vehicle in Latvia ").
For a vehicle that has been confiscated and recognized as state property:
- A vehicle registration certificate registered in Latvia or a foreign registration document of a vehicle for a vehicle previously registered abroad or a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer or its official representative certifying the origin of the vehicle or the fact of sale, for a previously unregistered vehicle;
- deed regarding the transfer of property for sale;
- Certificate regarding the vehicle unit number verification.
- a document that the import of the vehicle into the customs territory of the European Economic Area has been executed in accordance with the procedures specified in regulatory enactments regarding customs matters (Customs document), if the vehicle has been purchased or imported from a foreign country which is not a Member State of the European Union;
- a statement of conformity, if required for the registration of the vehicle (see the section " First registration of a vehicle in Latvia ").
For the numbered unit of the vehicle:
- A statement of the CSDD regarding the ownership of the numbered unit or a deed regarding the transfer of property for sale, if the numbered unit has been transferred for sale as state-owned property by the competent state or local government institutions;
- Certificate regarding the vehicle unit number verification.
