Re-registration of a temporarily deregistered vehicle
A temporarily deregistered vehicle must be re-registered in order for it to be used in road traffic. This procedure can be performed at any CSDD customer service centre.
If the vehicle is re-registered within the 5-year number plate retention period at the CSDD customer service centre where the number plates of the vehicle were handed over for deregistration, the number plates may be collected free of charge. If the vehicle re-registered after the expiry of the number plate retention period or if it is re-registered at a different CSDD customer service centre, it is possible to receive registration number plates with the same number by making a new set, or to change the registration plate number to a different number.
Documents required
- vehicle registration certificate;
- passport or ID card of the person submitting the documents. A driver document issued by CSDD can be produced if the Population Register contains information about the person’s valid passport or ID card. This procedure can be performed by the owner or registered holder of the vehicle, or by a person authorised by the owner/registered holder (see ‘Persons who may register a vehicle’).
